Advocacy can seem intimidating however anyone can do it and we are here to show you the process. Do you know what education legislation is being introduced this legislative session? Have you ever met with your local state senator or representative? Do you know the difference between local, state and federal policy? Learn about the bills that could effect you as either a general education or special education parent. We are excited that we will be hosting a rally on the steps of Legislative Hall at 1:30 pm. The rally will be in support of education funding specifically basic special education in grades K to 3 that affects class sizes. The day will have something for everyone. Delaware PTA wants to share our newly adopted legislative agenda with our membership.The day will include workshops, a tour of legislative hall, lunch with elected officials, a rally, and attendance at an education committee meeting.
We would like to assist you in contacting your local representative and senator to schedule a visit for you to meet with your elected officials. If you do not know who your local representative and senator is, please go to https://legis.delaware.gov/
Please include the name of your elected officials on the registration form. Be sure to RSVP by May 5th so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
If you are a PTA member this event is complimentary. If you are not a member, you can still join us for just $20 which includes materials and lunch.
